Another win, more control: Barcelona stay clear at the top after routine win over Mallorca
Barcelona eased past Mallorca 3-0 at home on Saturday to extend their lead at the top of La Liga after matchday 23.
Barcelona continued their strong league form with clear 3-0 victory over Mallorca on Saturday, in matchday 23 of La Liga.
The result helped the Catalan side tighten their grip on first place.
Barcelona took control in first half through Robert Lewandowski who opened the scoring in the 29 minute after sustained pressure.
The hosts kept possession and limited Mallorca’s chances heading into the break with deserved lead.
After the restart, Barcelona stayed patient and doubled the advantage in the 61 minute when Lamine Yamal found the net with calm finish.
The goal eased any remaining tension and allowed the league leaders to manage the game.
The scoring was completed late on as Marc Bernal struck in the 83 minute wrapping up dominant performance.
Barcelona finished the match with control in midfield and solid defensive display.
The win lifted Barcelona to 58 point keeping them four points clear at the top of the table.
Second-placed Real Madrid were set to face Valencia away on Sunday, in the same round.
For Mallorca the defeat left them on 24 point sitting in 15th place as they continue to look over their shoulder in the lower half of the standings.
