Ansu Fati has impressed Barcelona during the opening weeks of this summer’s pre-season schedule, but he has now been stopped by a foot injury, which was picked up during Tuesday’s training session.

Because of this, Fati will be unable to take part in Barcelona’s pre-season tour of the United States, which gets underway this weekend. However, that’s the least of his concerns at this stage.

As reported by Javi Miguel, Fati is suffering with plantar fasciitis – an injury that is difficult to find a prognosis for. In typical cases, a slow recovery is used, and a return to action will depend on how the 21-year-old feels. The minimum recovery time is three weeks, although it’s possible that he could be out for almost two months.

Even if Fati is only out for three weeks, which would be unlikely given his injury history, he’d be doubtful for Barcelona’s first match of the new season – against Valencia on the 17th of August.

Barcelona have had rotten luck with injuries so far this summer, with Fati now joining Pedri and Ronald Araujo on the sidelines. It’s certainly not been the easiest start to life in Catalonia for new manager Hansi Flick.
