Anthony Gordon to Jorge Salinas, Barça close to sealing second signing | OneFootball

Anthony Gordon’s big-money arrival has opened Barcelona’s window, and Jorge Salinas is set to become the club’s second signing. A centre forward remains the priority, a move planned after the World Cup.

According to Superdeporte, Salinas chose Barça despite interest from Spain and the Premier League, and will join Barcelona. The 33-appearance defender was pivotal in Racing’s return to LaLiga.

Aged 19, he is primarily a left-back and can also operate at centre-back. He has five Spain under-19 caps and four at under-18 level.

His release clause stands at 8 million euros, which Barça hope not to trigger. They aim to lower the fee by offering a loan player that suits Racing’s needs. Urgency is required, as from one July the clause rises to 16 million euros.

Barcelona intend to integrate Salinas in pre-season and register him with the first team. His arrival will not affect a push for a permanent deal for Joao Cancelo, another target.
