The Football Association has confirmed that Premier League referee Anthony Taylor will take charge of Leeds United’s FA Cup third-round trip to Derby County on Sunday lunchtime.
Leeds and Derby renew their rivalry at Pride Park, with the tie broadcast on TNT Sports.
Derby, managed by Paul Warne, sit mid-table in the Championship and will aim to halt Leeds’ attempt to reach the fourth round for the fourth successive season. Both sides are targeting a place in Monday’s draw, and a lively atmosphere is anticipated.
Manchester-born Taylor has already officiated two Leeds matches this season, with the Whites unbeaten in both. He oversaw the 3-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers in September, then made his seasonal Elland Road bow in last month’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions.
His appointment brings one of English football’s leading officials to a meeting that carries plenty of edge for both clubs.
