In a World Cup that has been defined by broken records and new heights for France and their players it only seems right that Antoine Griezmann would also take part in a record of his own. After his two assist performance against England the World Cup winner is now France’s all-time assist leader.
The Atlético Madrid man’s 28 assists passes Thierry Henry (27 assists) and Zinedine Zidane (26 assists) to hold France all time assist record. The move to the midfield has been good for not only the team, but for him as a player. With three assists in the World Cup he is also tied for the most assists in the tournament.
In the new role Griezmann has been a complete player for Les Bleus. Not only has he been completing passes with over 80% accuracy and raking up assists, but making major defensive contributions. His wide range of passing allows him to make plays virtually anywhere on the field. This accomplishment considering who held the record puts Griezmann’s career with Les Bleus in perspective.
