Antoine Kombouaré has confirmed that Pedro Chirivella and Alban Lafont both want to leave FC Nantes this summer. The manager added that the latter was already in talks with several clubs.
At the end of last season, Kombouaré made no secret of his desire to rejuvenate the squad. He insisted that, whilst the club needed a considerable recruitment drive this summer, many players would also have to leave Les Canaris. One of the most obvious candidates to leave is Lafont, who represents one of the more bankable assets for the Breton side.
The former France youth international hinted at a departure when he passed through the mixed zone on the final day of the season. Kombouaré has now revealed that Lafont does indeed want to leave and the club won’t stand in his way. “We are thinking as if Alban is no longer with us. He is in talks with other clubs but we won’t wait for him to leave we need to work on the start of next season,” said Kombouaré, confirming that FCN are already scouring the market for a new No.1
He then added that two other players had asked to leave the club: Chirivella and Douglas Augusto. “We had talks with them at the end of the season. They expressed a desire to leave. Pedro is in his fourth year. He wants to go elsewhere, so it’s good for him and good for us too,” said Kombouaré. He added that Mostafa Mohamed also doesn’t wish to return to Les Canaris and therefore opportunities will be “examined” for the Egypt international.
