Manchester United’s hopes of landing Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo have been given a lift after a major update on his release clause and transfer fee payment terms.

United pursuing Semenyo

Semenyo is replicating the fine form that initially drew United’s attention last season. He netted 11 goals in 2024/25 as Bournemouth enjoyed a stellar year under Andoni Iraola.

He has kicked up a level this term and currently has eight goals to his name heading into the January transfer window. However, unlike last summer, there is a growing list of suitors lurking to snap him up.

In addition to United other Premier League outfits like Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also tracking the attacker.

United and City are thought to be the favourites to secure his services when the winter window commences.

Ruben Amorim has repeatedly spoken glowingly of Semenyo’s attributes and there have even been rumours that the pair went out for dinner last summer before a deal collapsed and the Red Devils turned their attention to Bryan Mbeumo instead.

The £65m release clause in Semenyo’s contract is active only until the first 10 days of January. If not triggered by then, it will not become available again until the summer of 2026.

Now, Centredevils have revealed that Semenyo’s release can be paid in instalments, with the first payout worth just £20m – a development that will significantly help United amid their financial woes.

Centredevils claim, “CentreDevils exclusively revealed yesterday that if given the green light, Manchester United wants to negotiate the Antoine Semenyo release clause in instalments rather than pay the full £65 million up front.”

“CentreDevils understands that the first instalment in Antoine Semenyo’s release clause is close to £20 million, with the total amount in the region of £60 million spread across the next few years with £5 million in add-ons.”

The report notes that while Chelsea have made contact for Semenyo, they are not as advanced as United or City.

All eyes are now on the 25-year-old and which club he chooses.
