Manchester United have learned a new major development on the transfer situation of Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo.

Semenyo enjoyed a superb 2024/25 campaign with Bournemouth, racking up an impressive 11 goals and six assists in 37 Premier League appearances.

However, United opted against stepping up their interest in Semenyo after learning of Bournemouth’s steep asking price. The Red Devils turned their attention towards Bryan Mbeumo, who was snapped up from Brentford in a deal worth around £71m.

Semenyo proceeded to sign a new five-year deal, putting an end to all transfer speculation surrounding his future.

The Ghanaian has started the new campaign in stunning fashion. He has managed six goals and three assists in the opening seven fixtures. Only Erling Haaland has tallied more goal contributions than Semenyo.

There is renewed interest in Semenyo from several parties in England, with United being one of them. It’s understood that Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping close tabs on the situation.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Ruben Amorim’s side are prepared to spend big money to land Semenyo.

Now, talkSPORT’s Alex Crook has revealed that Semenyo has a release clause contained in his contract.

Semenyo update

According to Crook, “Antoine Semenyo does have a release clause in his Bournemouth contract, talkSPORT understands.”

“Bournemouth were realistic enough about Semenyo’s performances last season that including a release clause was the best way of committing his future.”

“The exact terms of the release clause are being kept under wraps as Bournemouth want to keep hold of their star man for as long as possible.”

In addition to United and Tottenham, Liverpool are also named as admirers of the 25-year-old.
