Isaac Schmidt has ended his Leeds United stay by joining BSC Young Boys, signing off with an emotional farewell that drew responses from teammates, including Anton Stach.

The full-back agreed a four-year contract on Thursday. The fee was undisclosed, but according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds are understood to have received £2 million, avoiding a loss on book value.

Schmidt made 14 appearances in the 2024/25 Championship title-winning season, starting twice in the FA Cup. All 12 league outings were from the bench, and last summer he joined Werder Bremen on loan with Premier League minutes unlikely.

He was at Elland Road when automatic promotion was sealed and took part in the open-top bus parade through the city centre. In his post he said he would never forget the shared emotions and team spirit, praised the fans, and wished the club well, signing off with MOT.
