Anton Stach has vowed to do everything he can to return quickly after suffering an injury during Leeds United’s home win over Brighton.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the midfielder was forced off in the 74th minute after landing awkwardly from an aerial challenge with Carlos Baleba. He received treatment on the pitch, spoke with Daniel Farke and initially tried to continue.
Stach even took a corner before going down again, then was stretchered off with his shirt over his head and blood visible through his sock at ankle level, with Joel Piroe coming on. Leeds won 1-0 courtesy of an added-time Dominic Calvert-Lewin effort.
In a playful social post, the 27-year-old thanked supporters for their backing, called his withdrawal unlucky and said he will do everything to come back as quickly as possible, adding that he hopes to see fans soon.
He is a major doubt for Sunday’s Premier League finale at West Ham and is unlikely to be risked, with Leeds safe. The greater concern is his hope of making Germany’s World Cup squad, with squads already being announced for next month’s tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Farke said the opponent fell on Stach’s knee or ankle, that he tried to continue but the pain was too much, and that they must await medical assessment, with the World Cup around the corner.
