Antonio Conte confirmed his departure from Napoli, then publicly challenged president Aurelio De Laurentiis over claims injuries and bad luck denied them the Scudetto, according to L'Équipe.

The exchange came in Sunday’s post-match press conference after a 1-0 win against Udinese on the final day. Napoli finished second and booked Champions League football.

In front of reporters, De Laurentiis suggested that without those setbacks Napoli would have won Serie A. Conte immediately rejected that reading and said he did not agree.

He said credit belonged to Inter Milan, champions by 11 points over Napoli.

Conte added that clinging to excuses was not his way, and that Napoli should recognise the rival’s success and show respect if they want respect themselves, insisting Inter deserved their title.
