While Antonio Conte is a manager renowned for his considerable spending in the transfer market, the current crop of youth players at Tottenham Hotspur is a very promising one indeed – something which could well see a change in approach from the Italian.

At present, academy graduates Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp are in and around the Spurs starting XI on a regular basis, while the likes of Harvey White, Troy Parrott, Dane Scarlett, Alfie Devine and Nile John look as if they could go on to break into the first-team setup in the not-too-distant future.

John could save Conte millions

Indeed, over his 13 Premier League 2 appearances in the current campaign, the £180k-rated teenager has scored a highly impressive seven goals, as well as providing his teammates with three assists.

The latest of the youngster’s 2021/22 haul came in a 3-0 win over Manchester City’s under-23 side on Saturday afternoon, with the midfielder finishing the day with two goals and one assist to his name. The second of John’s goals was a rather special curling effort into the far corner, clipping the crossbar on its way into the net.

Furthermore, Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold also appears to be a big fan of the youngster, describing him as a player with “great feet,” as well as stating his belief that the midfielder possesses “real quality.”

As such, while Conte may well need to dip into the January transfer window if he is to steer Tottenham to a top-four finish in the league this season, it may well be a wise move for the 52-year-old to take a closer look at John before signing a new central midfielder.

Indeed, should the 18-year-old be able to replicate his Premier League 2 form upon being unleashed in the first team, he could end up saving Conte and Spurs millions of pounds in transfer fees.
