Sevilla’s summer rebuild under Antonio Cordón is taking shape, with one signing secured, another close and a free transfer target emerging. The plan blends low-cost deals with longer-term bets.

Sevilla have confirmed the arrival of Ecuadorian prospect Patrick Mercado after agreeing terms with Independiente del Valle. The fee is expected to be around €6 million and it is viewed as a strategic investment with impact on the pitch and resale potential. Mercado had attracted interest from Chelsea.

Talks are well advanced for right-back Juan Iglesias to join once his Getafe contract expires, a move that would be free and aligned with Sevilla’s finances. While not yet official, the opportunity is seen as hard to ignore.

Other targets have slipped away. German midfielder Grischa Prömel is understood to be choosing VfB Stuttgart, while Krasnodar playmaker Eduard Spertsyan has acknowledged that a switch to Spain would mean a significant pay cut, complicating any LaLiga move. Sevilla and Elche were among the clubs interested.

According to Muchodeporte, midfielder Marius Marin has rejected a new deal at Pisa, and with his contract up on 30 June he could be available on a free. The 27-year-old, a Romania international with extensive experience in Italy, fits Cordón’s plan. Further developments on Marin’s situation could follow soon.
