Antonio Giner ‘to return’ to Valencia as VCF Academy medical director | OneFootball

Antonio Giner is poised to return to Valencia as VCF Academy medical director, with the club to announce his arrival in the coming hours, Tribuna Deportiva reports.

The reshuffle follows Braulio Vázquez taking over as sporting director and changes across several departments. Last week the club announced the dismissal of doctor López Mateu as head of medical services.

Giner is a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This will be his second spell at the club, overseeing medical direction at the VCF Academy, where he worked until 2020.

After leaving Valencia he joined Castellón and in recent years has been involved with the Federación Valenciana. He has also worked in private practice and has wide experience in sport.

His objective on returning is to help the club’s injured players back to fitness and to rebuild trust among some squad members in the medical department previously led by doctor López Mateu.
