António Salvador recalls ties with Luís Filipe Vieira and other Portuguese football leaders | OneFootball

Braga president António Salvador used a Portugal Football Summit appearance on Thursday to reflect on relationships with past Portuguese football figures and to set out a vision that goes beyond longevity in office.

According to Glorioso 1904, he recalled the cordial ties he maintained with Luís Filipe Vieira, as well as with Pinto da Costa, Valentim Loureiro and João Bartolomeu, saying they could sit together to address important matters.

While currently the longest serving figure in Portuguese club leadership, Salvador said he would rather be regarded as a modern president who looks ahead and seeks more, not simply the oldest in post.

He described daily motivation as setting new objectives, doing more than before and surrounding himself with competent people to modernise Braga and prepare it for today and tomorrow.

Salvador also argued Portuguese football is now in a better place than in the past, citing progress in coaching, player quality and infrastructure, and a strong profile at home and abroad.
