António Silva has shared a defiant social media message while he awaits the outcome of Benfica renewal talks. According to Glorioso 1904, the centre-back posted holiday training images that caught the eye of supporters.

Working with a fitness coach, he wrote that even if everything were taken from him, people would still see him shine and win it all again, adding that the drive comes from within.

The 22-year-old endured an inconsistent season and finished behind Nicolás Otamendi and Tomás Araújo in the pecking order. He was also left out of Roberto Martínez’s final Portugal squad for the 2026 World Cup.

He is already working towards Benfica’s pre-season, which begins on 25 June, aiming to arrive in the best condition to impress the new coaching staff.

Benfica have tabled a contract extension on a deal that currently runs until 2027, with his decision expected after the holidays.

Despite recent setbacks, he remains regarded as one of the club’s most valuable assets and aims to turn criticism into motivation to reclaim his place.
