In an interview with Het Nieuwsblad, Antwerp’s star striker Vincent Janssen has revealed that he told his agent that he has no interest in leaving Antwerp this summer. The 29-year-old former Tottenham striker led the side with his goals as they won their first league title since 1957. Janssen joined Antwerp last summer from Mexican side Monterrey, where he had scored 24 goals in 93 games. In 46 games for Antwerp last season, he scored 21 goals. This had led to many transfer rumours linking him with a move away from Belgium, however it appears that he would rather stay with the club where he appears to have found a home.
Janssen’s first big break came during his time with AZ Alkmaar in the 2015/2016 season, where he scored 31 goals in 49 games. Tottenham saw enough to sign him, however he struggled in London, scoring just six goals in 42 games. After a loan spell at Fenerbahce, where he scored five in 18, he moved to Mexico.
At international level, the striker has played 22 games for the Dutch national team, scoring seven goals. During the 2023/2024 season he will be leading the line for Antwerp as they look to defend their title and embark on a Champions League campaign.
