Fulham secured their first competitive win under Álvaro Arbeloa with a comfortable 3-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup second round.
Arbeloa made 10 changes from Monday’s defeat by Chelsea, but his much-changed side still had enough quality to overcome their League One opponents.
The Cottagers took control before half-time, with Emile Smith Rowe opening the scoring in the 37th minute. Kenny Tete’s deep cross was headed back across goal by Ryan Sessegnon, allowing Smith Rowe to finish from close range.
Rodrigo Muniz then doubled Fulham’s advantage just before the break, rising highest to meet another Tete delivery and head home his first goal since the opening weekend of last season.
Teenager Macaulay Zepa made his senior debut after the interval and impressed with his pace and direct running, while Muniz went close to a spectacular third with an overhead kick.
Gonzalo García completed the scoring in stoppage time, rounding Nathan Bishop after being played through by Zepa.
Fulham will face West Ham in the third round.
