After the worst possible start to life at Real Madrid, Alvaro Arbeloa appears to have found his feet at Santiago Bernabeu, having orchestrated the club’s back-to-back wins over Levante and AS Monaco.

Since taking over the reins, Arbeloa has also wasted no time in revitalising a squad that looked stagnant. And the impact has been noticeable.

Vinicius Jr. and Franco Mastantuono, in particular, have benefited from this change and have performed brilliantly, notably starring in Real Madrid’s 6-1 win over AS Monaco.

Arbeloa’s next target: Jude Bellingham

According to Defensa Central, with those two fires reignited, Arbeloa has now set his sights on arguably Real Madrid’s most important midfielder, Jude Bellingham.

It is no secret that Bellingham had a difficult time under the previous coach, Xabi Alonso. He was simply not able to find himself at home under the Spaniard’s tactics.

This led to a bout of inconsistency, which has now put pressure on his starting role with the English national team ahead of the World Cup. Arbeloa is looking to change this and bring the Englishman back to top form.

While Bellingham scored a superb goal and was omnipresent defensively against Monaco- winning the most balls in the match – Arbeloa believes he is still far from his absolute best.

Bellingham has struggled to maintain consistency since his debut season, often flashing brilliance without sustaining it.

For the new coach, a fully fit and firing Bellingham is the non-negotiable variable in the equation for the 16th Champions League title.

Given the team’s current midfield fragilities, Arbeloa views the Englishman as the key difference-maker and for good reasons, given that the former Dortmund is regarded as one of the most talented players in world football.
