Real Madrid are entering the most decisive stretch of the season, and manager Alvaro Arbeloa has already made his main objective clear.

The Spanish coach wants to ensure that Trent Alexander-Arnold returns to his best level as soon as possible, but without taking unnecessary risks.

According to a recent report from MARCA, the full-back’s recovery and form are now at the top of Arbeloa’s priority list.

With key fixtures approaching, the manager understands how important the Englishman could be for the balance of the team.

Recent updates

Real Madrid resumed training yesterday after a two-day break as preparations began for the upcoming La Liga clash against Valencia.

The match is seen as a crucial one, and it could mark Alexander-Arnold’s return to the squad.

However, it remains unclear whether he will start or be eased back into action from the bench.

The summer signing has endured a difficult first season in Madrid, as injuries have disrupted his rhythm.

So far, Alexander-Arnold has made only 16 appearances for the club, with five of those coming during last summer’s Club World Cup.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to return against Valencia.

His most recent setback was a hamstring injury that kept him out for nearly two months.

The good news for Real Madrid is that reports now suggest he could be available again for the trip to Mestalla on Sunday.

Maximum caution

Even so, the club is determined not to rush him back too quickly.

Alexander-Arnold has already missed 23 of Real Madrid’s 34 matches this season, and another setback would be a serious blow. That is why Arbeloa is expected to take a cautious approach.

Instead of throwing him straight into the starting XI, the manager is likely to continue relying on Federico Valverde on the right flank.

However, Real Madrid’s schedule has become even more demanding after failing to qualify directly for the Champions League round of 16.

The team now faces two additional matches, making squad depth and player fitness more important than ever.

This is exactly why getting Alexander-Arnold back to full form is so important.

Once he is ready, Valverde will be able to return to his natural midfield role, which could significantly improve the team’s overall balance.
