Chelsea are interested in Strasbourg’s Guela Doue, but face competition from Premier League rivals Aston Villa according to reports.
The Blues were active in the summer and made six first team signings, five of which were attackers as the frontline underwent a major revamp.
The only defensive addition was Jorrel Hato, who will provide much needed cover at left back for Marc Cucurella.
The Blues have been linked with making a centre back signing in January, but whether that happens or not remains to be seen.
However, they continue to be linked with players, and reporter Pete O’Rourke has stated Chelsea are interested in Strasbourg right back Doue, even though they currently have Reece James and Malo Gusto.

Doue has impressed for Strasbourg this season.
“I’m sure it’s more than just Aston Villa that he’s caught the eye of,” he told Football Insider.
“Doue’s had a very good time at Strasbourg. Impressed again last weekend against the European champions PSG in that game as well and has established himself as one of the most promising young full-backs in Ligue 1 right now.
“Chelsea are also interested in him. You’ve got Brighton, they’ve been looking at him as well.
“So look, there’s going to be a host of clubs who’ll be keeping eyes on Doue’s progress at Strasbourg.”
Chelsea were reportedly impressed by Doue after a delegation watched him in Strasbourg’s 3-3 draw with PSG last weekend.
Strasbourg are part of BlueCo’s multi club model and the Blues have taken advantage of that by signing some of the club’s best talents.

Chelsea have already signed centre back Mamadou Sarr, whilst striker Emanuel Emegha will arrive next summer after signing a seven year contract at Stamford Bridge.
Strasbourg also benefit, as Chelsea send three of their talented youngsters their each season, which are usually players the club would normally have no chance of signing, with Mike Penders, Kendry Paez and Sarr spending the season there.
