Are Aston Villa the Premier League comeback kings?

Aston Villa once again had to rally after going behind as they defeated Brighton on Wednesday evening but are the Villans the comeback kings?

In total, Villa have suffered seven deficits in the Premier League so far this season, the same number as Liverpool and Manchester United, which leaves the West Midlands side thoroughly midtable. Wolves are top (or bottom, depending on your perspective) of that table with 12 while Crystal Palace and Manchester City have only suffered four deficits.

Of those deficits, Villa have gone on to win four times which no other team has managed yet. The league's surprise package Sunderland have managed it three times from nine deficits while last night's opponents Brighton have managed it three times from eight deficits.

We already mentioned Liverpool and Man Utd going behind the same number of times as Unai Emery's team which gives a good comparison. United only managed to turn one of those seven deficits into a win, drawing two, and losing the other four but Liverpool lost six of theirs, only managing to salvage a point once – last night against Sunderland!

But how about when Villa take the lead? Well here there are even more good signs for a team currently on a six-game winning run in all competitions.

Villa have been leading nine times in the league so far this season and they've gone on to win eight of those (that only draw was also against Sunderland).

The stats then show the great team spirit Emery has made at Villa Park that has given them a never-say-die attitude.

Last night's win will also give them plenty of confidence as they try and keep that winning run going this Saturday at home to league-leaders Arsenal.
