Are Bayern Munich dark horses in the women’s Champions League?

After a mixed start to their Champions League campaign, Bayern Munich have secured back to back wins in Europe and they could be considered a dark horse for the competition.
The German champions shocked Arsenal on Wednesday night with a late comeback to take all three points.
It looked for all the world as if Arsenal had secured another win in the Champions League this season with their two goal advantage in the second half.
But the biggest teams step up on the big occasions and that is exactly what Bayern did after half time.
Substitutes Pernille Harder and Alara Sehitler levelled the game with ten minutes to play and a last gasp winner from Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir put Bayern ahead right at the death.
The late flurry of Bayern goals cancelled out early finishes from Arsenal’s Emily Fox and Mariona Caldentey.
Bayern very rarely play at the Allianz Arena, so the occasion felt all the more special with the Germans coming back late in front of a packed out crowd.
Georgia Stanway assessed after the game that Bayern may have struggled in the first half as they acclimatised to the stadium surroundings.
Arsenal on the other hand will feel extremely hard done by after the loss and their Champions League campaign is now in serious danger after two defeats in their first three games.
After their shock win against Arsenal on Wednesday, Bayern are now sitting pretty in the Champions League.
José Barcala’s team has now won back to back games in Europe and they have risen up to sixth in the table after a difficult start.
In their Champions League debut this season Bayern were on the wrong end of a 7-1 thrashing from Barcelona, but they quickly got back on track with a dramatic win against Juventus.
Aside from the Barca loss Bayern have been near-perfect in all competitions, with just one draw in the league tarnishing an otherwise flawless season.
After a hot start to the season is it too early to discount Bayern as a Champions League contender this year? In short, no.
The Frauen-Bundesliga outfit are definitely dark horses in Europe and they could be serious dark horses.
Bayern have never won the Champions League throughout their history and they would become the third German side to win the elite competition.
Up next for Bayern is an out of sorts PSG side who could give the team yet another confidence boost.
