Argentina held their first training session in Kansas City as their 2026 World Cup build-up got under way in sweltering conditions.
According to SuperDepor.com, Lionel Scaloni’s squad worked at the Compass Minerals National Performance Center, regularly used by Sporting Kansas City in MLS. The heat hovered around 31 degrees with clear skies and a forecast high of 32, so staff managed workloads at the start of camp.
Argentina arrived in the United States on Sunday and began on Monday at their base. The delegation will travel to Texas on Friday, facing Honduras in College Station on Saturday six, then Iceland in Auburn, Alabama on Tuesday nine.
After those two friendlies, they will return to Kansas to continue training until their World Cup opener, scheduled for Tuesday 16 June against Algeria in Kansas City.
Scaloni has several players in recovery, including Leandro Paredes, Emiliano "Dibu" Martínez, Nicolás Paz, Cristian Romero, Julián Álvarez, Nicolás González, Gonzalo Montiel and Nahuel Molina. The coming days will be key to assessing the group’s physical progress.
