A general strike in Argentina did not postpone Lanús v Flamengo, but it did affect those in Buenos Aires for the match.
According to Globo.com, Flamengo kept its schedule intact and, as a precaution, put the two team bus drivers up at the hotel from Wednesday to avoid any garage exit issues.
With the walkout set for 24 hours until 23:59 on Thursday, the return to Rio, scheduled for 3am Brasília time, passed without trouble.
Supporters faced the biggest travel problems as public transport stopped, driving up demand for ride-hailing cars. One fan, Thiago, planned ahead, left early and still managed a stroll in the city centre with his family.
Several streets were closed for protests, and police clashed with demonstrators outside Congress as lawmakers debated a labour reform bill from Javier Milei’s government. The Chamber began discussing it on Thursday 19 after the Senate approved the text last week.
Conmebol did not work on a postponement of the tie, though Argentine league fixtures were altered. The sports workers’ union UTEDyC joined the strike, and there was a view that moving the Recopa date could disadvantage Lanús.
