It was Argentina’s final test ahead of the World Cup, as they defeated Iceland 3-0 at the Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn. Lautaro Martinez played for 45 minutes, coming on at the start of the second half in place of José Lopez. The Nerazzurri captain posed several threats for Iceland and won the penalty for the 2-0, which Messi converted in the 72nd minute. Di Barco and Almada scored Argentina’s other two goals, as La Selección finished their World Cup preparations with two wins and no goals conceded. Drawn in Group J alongside Algeria, Austria and Jordan, La Selección will defend their World Cup title on Wednesday 17 June against Algeria.
