After four players from Argentina’s Women’s National Team were ruled out against Brazil due to COVID-19, U.S. Soccer has announced two can return to action.

According to the press statement, “Adriana Sachs and Eliana Stabile have tested negative in serial testing since their arrival.” They have since been cleared for the team’s next match against Canada.

Back on 18 February, it was confirmed one player tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Orlando and another player, Natalia Juncos, produced an inconsistent test result.

It was determined Juncos had high-risk contact with two other players, resulting in all four missing out against Brazil.

U.S. Soccer confirmed, “the two players who were deemed high-risk contacts with [Juncos] are the ones who have subsequently tested negative in serial testing and have been cleared to play.”

Juncos, as well as the positive player (who has not been named), are “still not eligible to play.” The latter has been ruled out for the entire tournament and replaced by goalkeeper Laurina Oliveros.

Argentina are set to play against on Canada on 21 February.
