Despite being part of Argentina’s World Cup-winning squad in 2022, Lautaro Martinez failed to make an impact in Qatar.

Indeed, El Toro struggled with an injury during the last World Cup.

However, he atoned at the 2024 Copa America, displaying scintillating form as La Albiceleste clinched the title in the United States.

Meanwhile, he remains the focal point of Inter’s attack and the team’s leader, both on and off the field.

After a heartbreaking 2024/25 season, Martinez is keen to help Inter get back to winning ways this term.

Furthermore, the former Racing Club striker has hit a purple patch under new manager Cristian Chivu.

He was superb before the international break and will aim to continue in the same vein when Inter face Roma this weekend.

“I want to prepare in the best possible way and give my all, as I always do,” the Inter superstar said. “I want to take the sting out of Qatar.

“It was very tough to get through the last World Cup with an injury. I didn’t handle it well.

“But these are things you overcome, things that make you stronger.

“Top scorer at the World Cup? That’s what I want,” Lautaro added.

“I want to be at 100%, but first I have to focus on my club competitions, the upcoming friendlies, and the Finalissima.

“Then we’ll see. There’s no time to relax.

“Every player must work and give their best every day for their club, because everything carries over to the national team.”
