The Buenos Aires city government has sent US authorities a database of 13,000 parents in arrears on child maintenance, who will be denied access to 2026 World Cup stadiums.

According to La Nacion, the sanction targets Argentine parents who have not paid court-ordered support after the capital shared the list with US officials.

Mayor Jorge Macri said the city, working with the national government, has integrated its data into the Tribuna Segura programme to tighten checks across Argentina, including during the World Cup. He added that those failing to provide for their children would face consequences, with stadium entry refused.

Argentina has already applied such bans domestically since March 2025, with identity checks at grounds. Officials have identified 162 supporters in breach.

The 13,000 listed can still regularise their status to attend Argentina’s Group J opener against Algeria on Wednesday 17 June at 3.00.
