Argentina will play their final home match before the 2026 World Cup at La Bombonera, meeting Guatemala on Tuesday 31 March.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the AFA reworked the March window after the Finalissima against Spain was cancelled. It had been set for 27 March in Qatar, but the conflict in the Middle East and a failure to agree a neutral venue ended hopes of staging it.
With Monumental unavailable due to AC/DC concerts from 23 to 31 March, the AFA asked Boca to host the fixture and the venue was swiftly confirmed. Ticketing details will follow.
Lionel Scaloni plans to keep his players sharp, with training scheduled at the Ezeiza complex in the build-up. It will be the team’s first outing in months, their last official match coming on 14 November 2025, a 2-0 win over Angola.
La Bombonera also staged Argentina’s farewell before Qatar 2022, a 3-0 win against Venezuela.
The national side have played 36 matches at Boca’s ground, recording 25 wins, eight draws and three defeats. The most recent was a 1-0 victory over Peru in 2024 World Cup qualifying.
Leandro Paredes, a staple of Lionel Scaloni’s call-ups, will be involved and train in the week prior, and will not miss any Boca games as the match falls in a FIFA window.
The Boca captain will face Instituto this weekend, then join the Albiceleste camp at Ezeiza, close to the club’s base, where he has been recovering from an ankle injury.
