The Argentine Football Association said it was hacked after its World Cup last 16 match, when an email from one of its accounts challenged the decisions of French referee François Letexier.
In a statement on Friday, the federation said emails may have been sent from an institutional account without authorisation and that checks are under way.
Argentina beat Egypt 3-2 on Tuesday in the last 16.
It urged recipients to ignore any recent messages that seem unusual, particularly those containing links or attachments or requesting personal information.
An internal investigation has been opened to determine the extent of the incident.
