The Argentine federation has appealed to FIFA to reduce Leandro Paredes' 10-match suspension, imposed after altercations in the 2026 World Cup final.
According to TyC Sports, the filing, signed by AFA legal counsel Andrés Paton Urich and sports lawyer Ariel Reck, asks to cut the punishment to three matches, the minimum permitted.
Argentina expects to wait between 20 and 25 days for a decision.
Paredes, 32, the Boca Juniors midfielder, has said his international career is not over, a view shared by head coach Lionel Scaloni.
Speaking to the media, Scaloni stressed that Paredes remains part of his plans and is highly valued, while the AFA continues planning as the Albiceleste focus on friendlies.
