Arne Slot has reportedly blocked an early Liverpool transfer. The boss has said no to the deal ahead of January.

Liverpool’s January transfer plans will be in full swing as the window prepares to open. We’re now around 10 days from that happening and the Reds have work to do.

This, after all, is not the squad they wanted for this season. A failed move for Marc Guehi at the end of August left them without the ‘correct’ centre-back options - a problem that was exacerbated by Giovanni Leoni’s injury.

Arne Slot only has three senior centre-back options, then. The doubt around Ibrahima Konate’s future makes it a tricky situation, too.

The Frenchman’s contract expires after this season and he could leave for free. Managing that situation - and that of the overall group - is vital for Liverpool.

That management is firmly underway, with the Liverpool boss blocking one exit before the window is even open.

Arne Slot blocks Joe Gomez exit

Milan News, part of the TuttoMercatoWeb network, claims Arne Slot has blocked Joe Gomez’s move to AC Milan. Milan wanted to sign the defender back in the summer, though the Reds’ failed Guehi pursuit led to it never progressing.

They have always hoped to get it over the line in January, presumably out of hope that Liverpool would sign a centre-back. That’s become a lot more difficult with the Leoni injury - even if the Reds sign someone, they’d still be light if they sold Gomez.
