Arne Slot has cast doubt on the prospect of Liverpool making new signings before the closure of the transfer window.

Liverpool had been expected to enter the January window for defensive additions, amid Giovanni Leoni's season-ending ACL injury.

The Reds had tried to sign Marc Guehi on the final day of the summer window but the deal broke down as Crystal Palace failed to sign a replacement.

Guehi has since left Crystal Palace to join Manchester City this month. Liverpool did not re-enter the race for Guehi in January, deeming the deal did not make financial sense, amid reported wages of around £300,000-a-week.

Liverpool's stance comes in a week where the Reds led all Premier League clubs for revenue for the first time.

The Deloitte Football Money League revealed Liverpool's 2024-25 revenue of £702m, boosted by Premier League title success, was the highest among English teams and the fourth-highest in world football.

Despite the club's healthy finances and need for centre-back depth, Slot said he does not anticipate new arrivals before the end of the month.

Liverpool spent more than £400m on new signings last summer, a record-breaking investment in a single window. The Premier League champions are expected to reassess their squad and recruitment at the end of the campaign.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of facing Bournemouth in the Premier League tomorrow, Slot said he expects theLiverpool squad to 'stay mainly the same' this month.

"That's what I expect yes. But as I always say, if there's an opportunity in the market or we think we can strengthen, this club will try to do so, but at this moment in time I expect it to stay mainly the same."
