Liverpool travel to the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night with a depleted squad for their Premier League meeting with Sunderland, as injuries and a suspension restrict Arne Slot's options.

According to Sunderland Echo, Slot has flagged multiple fitness and availability issues, and only three points separate the sides after 25 games, with Sunderland ninth on 36 and Liverpool sixth on 39.

Jeremie Frimpong remains out with a groin injury and is not expected back for at least another couple of weeks. Conor Bradley is out for the rest of the season with a serious knee problem, and Stefan Bajčetić is still sidelined after hamstring surgery and setbacks across almost nine months.

Joe Gomez is a major doubt, with Slot not expecting the defender to be ready for the trip north. Centre-back Giovanni Leoni also stays out after an ACL rupture earlier in the campaign.

Further forward, Liverpool will again be without Alexander Isak as he continues his recovery from a broken leg. Jayden Danns also remains unavailable with a hamstring injury.

Dominik Szoboszlai misses out through suspension after his red card against Manchester City for a professional foul on Erling Haaland, which carries a one-match ban. Slot said he could accept the referee following the rulebook, but argued Marc Guehi should also have been dismissed earlier for a shirt-pull on Mo Salah.

With both teams level on matches played and the gap narrow, Sunderland will hope to test a Liverpool side stretched by absences under the lights.
