Arne Slot has absolutely made the right move as he's blocked a transfer from Liverpool. A brilliant decision from the boss.

Arne Slot and Liverpool have some incredibly difficult decisions to make this winter. The January transfer window will open and there is work to do.

The Reds, after all, haven't got the squad they wanted. Quite literally, too - this squad was supposed to have Marc Guehi and Giovanni Leoni in it. Right now it boasts neither.

But things also haven't worked out as planned. Liverpool have struggled all season long, failing to gel together with this expensively-assembled group.

So January brings decisions as the club decide who to move on from and who to bring in. Slot will be at the forefront of those decisions as he picks his squad for the rest of the campaign.

It appears he's made one already - and it is absolutely the right decision.

Milan News, part of the TuttoMercatoWeb network, claims Arne Slot has blocked Joe Gomez from joining AC Milan. He doesn't want to lose the defender this winter - and that's absolutely correct.

Liverpool were happy to let Gomez depart in the summer if they could get Marc Guehi. It looked like Gomez would join Milan then, in fact, but the failed Guehi pursuit ended any chances.

And so winter became a possibility. Only, Giovanni Leoni's injury has left Liverpool short. They wanted at least four senior centre-back options this season and were content to have five, should Guehi arrive and Gomez stay.

Three? It's simply not enough. Especially with Gomez's injury record. Liverpool are down to just two right now with the England star out of action.
