One of the biggest areas Slot has to fix is Liverpool's defensive frailty. Slot's side have been leaking goals and look so open and vulnerable at the back.
Now according to a report from Indy Kaila, Slot is expected to trial a radical change at the back. The report claims that he will bring back Joe Gomez and attempt to play him alongside Virgil van Dijk in training during an attack vs defence drill.
The goal is to see whether Gomez could potentially start games for Liverpool.
What this ultimately means is a blockbuster change for Ibrahima Konate. Valued at €41m by Football Transfers the Frenchman has been woeful this season, and it looks like he could now be set for a period on the bench.
Konate has a contract that expires at the end of the season. With no agreement in sight, this seems like a good solution. Liverpool want to avoid another Trent Alexander-Arnold situation. His performances dropped considerably when it seemed inevitable he would join Real Madrid.
It seems like Konate is heading in the same direction.
Unfortunately, Slot's hands are also tied. He doesn't have many other alternative options to Konate apart from Gomez. Even Gomez is not necessarily as reliable given his injury record.
So Konate has to play to a certain extent in order to take the load off Gomez. Unless of course Slot finds the bravery to give a young centre-back from the academy a chance in the first-team.
There are a few candidates. Prince Kobe Cisse and Wellity Lucky are two who have impressed this season.
