Arne Slot has been urged to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in January with the Ghana ace reportedly having a £65m release clause in his contract.

The forward, who has six goals and three assists in 11 Premier League games this term, is believed to be attracting interest from a number of big clubs after a superb start to the campaign.

Semenyo impressed at Anfield on the opening weekend of the season with Milos Kerkez struggling to contain the forward as he netted a brace during the 4-2 victory for Liverpool.

The Reds spent over half a billion pound on the likes of Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike in the summer but have made a dismal start to their attempts of retaining the league title.

“You can go back to the goal that he scored that opening Premier League night against Liverpool and the performance he put in,” Austin said on Sky Sports News (via Rousing The Kop).

“He gave [Milos] Kerkez a real big problem, scored the goal – it was a fantastic, fantastic performance by him that night, and then he’s continued that form all the way through the start of the season.

“Look, I think £65 million is a snip to get him. And the biggest thing is, he’s only young, he’s progressing. The way he’s performing week in, week out for them, he has made himself Bournemouth’s talisman.”

The Premier League champions have an abundance of quality at the top end of the pitch but it’s not quite clicking so far this term.

Hugo Ekitike has looked sharp but fellow signing Alexander Isak has seen his start to life on Merseyside hampered by injury while Kopites are also yet to see what Florian Wirtz is truly capable of.

At the other end of the pitch Liverpool’s defence has looked shaky with just four clean sheets all season (across all competitions) so if Slot and Co. are to spend money in the winter window you’d have every right to suggest it should be to strengthen their backline.

If a player of Semenyo’s age and quality is available however, then it may be hard to turn down a move.

Mo Salah has looked a shadow of his former self so replacements for the 33-year-old need to be considered sooner rather than later.
