Arne Slot has refused to throw in the towel in his bid to pull Liverpool out of their rut as their woeful form drags on.

The Reds have now suffered back-to-back defeats at Anfield by three or more goals against Nottingham Forest and PSV Eindhoven.

The most recent 4-1 home defeat to PSV also stretched Liverpool’s deplorable run to nine losses from their last 12 games in all competitions – the club’s worst streak since 1953/54.

However, Slot has vowed to ‘fight on’ ahead of a tricky trip to West Ham United on Sunday and believes he still has the backing of the club hierarchy.

The Dutch manager met with sporting director Richard Hughes on Thursday to go over the disappointing Champions League defeat against PSV.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, he insists nothing has changed behind the scenes.

“We’ve had the same conversations as we’ve had since I’m here,” Slot said. “Not sure if I said it last night, but we fight on.

“We try to improve, that’s what we all try, but the conversations have been the same as they’ve been for the past one-and-a-half years.”

Slot acknowledged that the pressure is growing as the club goes through their worst run of form in over seven decades, but rejected any notion that his players let him down.

“There is a lot of pressure if you work or play at a top club,” he added. “Even more so if you start losing more games than this club or these players or this manager is used to.

“Then there is always pressure. But there was a lot of pressure last season as well for us to win the league. Now it’s a different kind of pressure because we have lost so many games.

“We have to keep fighting. That’s what we’ve done so well last season and what this club is about for so many years.”
