According to Globo.com, Flamengo have begun welcoming back World Cup call-ups, with midfielder Arrascaeta reporting to Ninho do Urubu on Monday to start preparations for the second half of the season. Others are due in the coming days.

Varela and De la Cruz are scheduled to return to the training centre on Wednesday. All Uruguay players were granted holidays after their group-stage exit. Those who featured at the World Cup will not join the mid-season camp in Portugal.

The number 10 is in the final stages of recovery from a right calf injury, so an early comeback had been planned. He was an unused substitute in the 1-0 defeat to Spain and has moved from physiotherapy to light work with the group, still in transition.
