Arrascaeta has paid tribute to Filipe Luís after Flamengo dismissed the head coach in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to Globo.com, the midfielder shared a farewell on social media, expressing gratitude and saying the moments they lived would endure as memories. He has been close to the former left-back since 2019.
The squad were surprised by the announcement, which followed qualification for the Carioca final. Team-mates contacted Filipe Luís to offer support and posted their goodbyes, with Jorginho praising his loyalty, respect and friendship, thanking him for the privilege of working together and wishing him luck.
Filipe leaves with 101 matches and a 69.9% record, comprising 63 wins, 23 draws and 15 defeats, five of them in 2026.
He departs as the club’s second most successful coach, level with Jorge Jesus and Flávio Costa on five trophies, Copa do Brasil 2024, Supercopa 2025, Carioca 2025, Libertadores 2025 and Brasileirão 2025.
Flamengo was his first coaching role. He started with the under-17s in March 2024 after retiring, winning the Copa Rio, then led the under-20s from June and won the age-group World Cup. On 30 September he was appointed to the first team to replace Tite.
