Rodolfo Arruabarrena has landed at Ezeiza after weather disruption to formalise his expected return as Boca head coach, succeeding Claudio Úbeda.
He went straight to the club’s training base for contract formalities and initial talks with president Juan Román Riquelme. Agencia Noticias Argentinas reports that the finer planning will be settled once the deal is signed later today.
Speaking at the airport, the former defender voiced excitement and optimism for a second spell, noting his first tenure ran from August 2014 to February 2016 and brought two official titles.
With Ander Herrera and Nicolás Orsini already released, he offered strong backing to the existing core, saying he accepted the post convinced there is top-level quality to turn around the last semester.
He added that any arrivals in this window should provide a specific step up and broaden tactical options. Personality, he said, matters more than age or past résumé, and several players could rediscover their best under a new methodology.
Arruabarrena’s staff will feature Diego Markic as lead assistant, plus Juan Gobet, Egyptian specialist Amr Mokhtar and fitness coach Gustavo Roberti. Pre-season is scheduled to start on Thursday 18 June at Ezeiza, with a clear focus on youth development and promotion.
