Arruabarrena weighs four Boca changes for Platense

Rodolfo Arruabarrena is considering four changes for Boca’s Torneo Clausura meeting with Platense on Saturday, basing selection on minutes logged. According to SuperDepor.com, he could make several tweaks, though not wholesale ones after the Deportivo Riestra setback.

Boca opened their Sudamericana last-16 tie against Recoleta with a 3-1 win in Parque Patricios, and the return is scheduled in Paraguay on Tuesday.

Arruabarrena, in the early weeks of his second stint, is pleased with the team’s shape and does not want to overreach. Miguel Merentiel, Lautaro Di Lollo, Leandro Lozano and Lautaro Blanco are among those who could be rested.

Merentiel has struggled for form, with one goal, in the first leg against O’Higgins, and had retained his place for lack of a natural deputy. With Enner Valencia now in, the Ecuadorian is not yet ready to start, so the manager could split 45 minutes, leave the Uruguayan on the bench or even play without a nine.

At the back, Di Lollo could make way for Nicolás Figal, while Lozano may be replaced by Dylan Gorosito. Lozano has had physical issues since joining the club.

Blanco, ever-present until he was withdrawn at half-time against Recoleta, might also be spared. Malcom Braida is an option, having made one start and one substitute outing under Arruabarrena.

Out wide, calls remain on Tomás Aranda and Leonel Flores, currently the main sources of threat. Alternatives include Alan Velasco, in his best spell since arriving, and Sebastián Villa, proven quality but still short of his level.
