Kieran Tierney is reportedly set to leave the club on loan during the January transfer window.

Tierney, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since Euro 2024, is said to have accepted the need to move on for regular playing time.

Tierney’s departure from Arsenal has been in the planning stages for some time, with the Gunners reportedly preparing for his exit during the summer. However, these plans were derailed by the injury he sustained in Scotland’s Euro 2024 match against Switzerland, which led to him being stretchered off in June.

It was a significant setback for Tierney, who had spent the previous season on loan at Real Sociedad.

Despite his return to training and being named on the bench for Arsenal’s recent Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain, Tierney remains short of full match fitness.

Even when he regains fitness, it appears Mikel Arteta has no plans to reintegrate him meaningfully into the squad.

Riccardo Calafiori, who joined Arsenal from Bologna in the summer, has firmly established himself as the starting left-back, with Oleksandr Zinchenko also set to compete for minutes once he recovers from injury.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Tierney has agreed to leave Arsenal in January, most likely on loan, in order to secure playing time and enhance his prospects for a permanent move next summer.

Reportedly, there is no animosity between Tierney and Arteta, and both parties seem to have a mutual understanding of the situation.
