Arsenal are set to sign Scottish youngster Callan Hamill from St Johnstone.
The Gunners are believed to be paying a six-figure fee for the 15-year-old, who will join them in the summer.
Hamill has previously been on trial with Arsenal and was part of the Under-17 squad that won the Flamengo Adidas Cup in Brazil in December.
The teenager has been tipped for a bright future and this week scored his first international goal for Scotland’s Under-16 side as they beat Cyprus.
Hamill can play in the heart of defence, at right-back or in midfield and has previously been on the radar of both Celtic and Rangers.
Arsenal have won the race to sign him, though, and he will bolster their youth sides next season.
The Gunners embarked on an aggressive recruitment drive at youth level last summer and Brexit rules have made British players more in demand.
Arsenal signed Brayden Clarke from Wolves last year after being impressed by his performances for Wales’ youth teams.
The Gunners also snapped up Northern Irish starlet Ceadach O’Neill last year, seeing off competition from Liverpool to sign the 16-year-old.
