Two of the three remaining 100% Champions League records this season are on the line on Wednesday when Arsenal and Bayern Munich lock horns at the Emirates Stadium.

The teams ran out emphatic winners from their last domestic outings as Arsenal put Tottenham Hotspur to the sword, while Bayern made light work of Freiburg.

Having watched Liverpool and Manchester City both lose on Saturday, Arsenal took full advantage by claiming a 4-1 victory over local rivals Spurs to open up a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Eberechi Eze, who came close to joining Spurs in the summer, was the star of the show for Mikel Arteta’s men as he grabbed a hat-trick after Leandro Trossard had opened the scoring.

Since their solitary defeat of the campaign against Liverpool back in August, Arsenal have now gone 15 games unbeaten across all competitions, winning 13 and drawing two.

The Gunners have picked up maximum points from their four Champions League outings so far, and more impressively, they are yet to concede a single goal, while scoring a whopping 11 times.

With a huge London derby against Chelsea to follow Wednesday’s affair, the hosts have made a positive start to a demanding week where their domestic and continental title credentials will be put to the test.

After seeing their perfect start to the season end in a 2-2 draw against Union Berlin just before the international break, Bayern made an immediate return to winning ways with a 6-2 demolition of Freiburg.

Vincent Kompany’s side found themselves down by two inside the opening 17 minutes before scoring six unanswered goals, thanks in no small part to Michael Olise’s two-goal, three-assist display.

Consequently, Bayern are now unbeaten in 21 matches heading into Wednesday’s clash against an opposing outfit who have lost four of the last five competitive meetings.

Like Arsenal, Bayern are also six points clear at the top of their league standings and have secured 12 points from a possible 12 on the European scene this term, following a hard-fought 2-1 win against reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain in matchday four.
