Arsenal had a comfortable win over Rosenborg and Celtic beat Gintra in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Round 1 group finals.

Frida Maanum got the only goal of the match for Arsenal after Rugile Rulyte spilled a cross into her path. Alessia Russo twice struck the crossbar for the Gunners, Kyra Cooney-Cross did so once.

Celtic won their group with a 2-0 victory over Gintra, Shannon McGregor’s first-half effort added to in the last ten minutes by Kat Loferski.

Rangers lost out to Atletico Madrid, Synne Jensen’s goal close to the interval added to in the second half by Sheila Guijarro and Vilde Boa Rise.

Glentoran won their third-place play-off, Emily Wilson’s 37th-minute goal enough to beat Armenian side Pyunik.

Cardiff City were beaten 2-0 by Ljuboten of Macedonia, for whom Hava Mustafa scored twice, the second in stoppage time.

Peamount United lost out to Osijek, conceding twice early in the second half having led after 4 minutes through  Dearbhaile Beirne.

The round 2 draw at 12 noon BST on Monday 9 September, with Paris Saint-Germain, Wolfsburg, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Roma entering the competition.

Barcelona, Lyon, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have byes until the group stage.
