Arsenal and Manchester United chase Serie A top scorer | OneFootball

Arsenal have made contact with Atalanta over a potential deal to sign Mateo Retegui, with Manchester United also interested in the forward.

Retegui has scored 20 goals in 22 league appearances for Atalanta this season, following his €28m move to the club from Genoa last summer.

The Argentine-born Italy international is the leading scorer in Italy’s top division with his goals having fired Atalanta into contention for the Scudetto.

According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal have opened talks with Atalanta over the conditions of a potential deal.

The Gunners are keen to address their issues in the final third with the signing of a centre-forward in the summer. Mikel Arteta is currently without a recognised option following injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.

Manchester United are also interested in a deal for the 25-year-old. Ruben Amorim is assessing options ahead of the summer, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee having struggled for form this season. The duo have combined for just five Premier League goals this season.
