Arsenal news: Cruzeiro have been strengthening its squad with an eye on the future. Over the last few months, they have been quietly working to consolidate young players with potential to grow within the team. Marquinhos, on loan from Arsenal at the beginning of the year, has been one of the players most closely watched by the Brazilian club’s management.

The Brazilian winger, who showed flashes of quality in his first appearances, generated expectations among the fans. As time went by, doubts arose as to whether his spell in Belo Horizonte would be just another stage in his career or whether he would actually become a permanent part of the team. Despite certain obstacles, the situation took a turn that could define his immediate future.

Arsenal Very Close To Sell Marquinhos Permanently

According to GE Globo, Cruzeiro are finalising details to definitively close the signing of the 22-year-old. Although there were recent signs suggesting that negotiations had failed, the Brazilian management decided to resume contact with Arsenal to secure the player’s signing. The agreement is at an advanced stage and only administrative aspects remain to be formalised.

Marquinhos will sign a contract until the end of 2028 and his return to the squad could happen in a matter of days. The two clubs have already reached key agreements and the transfer seems to be on track. Everything indicates that the operation will go ahead without further setbacks.

What Will Be The Best Terms For The Gunners?

From Arsenal‘s point of view, this move reflects a change in strategic focus. Marquinhos arrived in London with high expectations, but his opportunities were limited. Loaning him to Cruzeiro was a logical decision for his development. However, the original idea of activating an automatic clause did not work, as the Brazilian club avoided that scenario.

Now, Arsenal have a window to define their conditions well. A permanent sale must include percentages of future resale, performance clauses and a reasonable fixed amount to offset the initial investment. The ideal situation for the English club would be to maintain some indirect control over the player, given his long-term potential. Selling without guarantees would be a mistake. On the other hand, this situation shows how Brazilian clubs handle transfers with flexibility, always seeking to negotiate in their favour without breaking any rules.
