Arsenal booked their place in the quarter-final of the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over Mansfield Town at the One Call Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors were presented with the first chance of the game in the fourth minute after Liam Roberts hit his pass straight to Max Dowman, but the goalkeeper recovered to deny the teenager the opener.

Moments later Riccardo Calafiori failed to deal with a long ball forward, and Tyler Roberts latched onto it before trying to chip Kepa Arrizabalaga from outside the area, but the Spanish goalkeeper had it covered.

In the 12th minute, the hosts could’ve gone ahead after Rhys Oates skipped past Cristhian Mosquera to find Louis Reed at the edge of the area, but Kepa was equal to it before Oates curled an effort just wide.

Minutes later, Oates had two chances to break the deadlock, but he couldn’t hit the target. First, his strike from a distance flew wide, before his volley went just over the bar.

At the half-hour mark, the Gunners relieved pressure and mustered an attack of their own as Leandro Trossard found Dowmwan, but his first-time strike flew straight at Roberts.

In the 41st minute, Noni Madueke broke the deadlock for Arsenal after Roberts saved his initial curling effort, before Gabriel Martinelli laid it back to him to find the top corner at the second attempt, scoring the Gunners’ 100th goal of the season in all competitions.

Moments later, Madueke could’ve gotten a second after he was played in behind by Christian Norgaard, but the Englishman skewed his effort wide.

Five minutes after the restart, Will Evans drew the Stags level after he latched onto a loose pass from Marli Salmon before drilling a left-footed shot beyond Kepa.

Minutes later, Reed could’ve fired the hosts ahead, but his shot was weak, and it flew straight into the gloves of Kepa.

In the 66th minute, Eberechi Eze restored Arsenal’s lead after he found the top corner with a right-footed shot.

Bukayo Saka could’ve increased the margin in the 84th minute after he was played through on goal by Madueke, but the Englishman was denied by the outstretched leg of Roberts.

In the closing stages of the game, Madueke and Gabriel Jesus saw their efforts sliced well over the bar as Arsenal held on to secure the victory.
